If the weather station is going to be attached to a building or other object it should be situated at least 2 metres above objects that may effect the airflow such as buildings or trees. It is best not to mount the station above artificial surfaces such as concrete as this will effect temperature and humidity readings. Ensure that no object can shadow the light sensor. When considering a site, remember to consider the height of the sun at mid winter.
The weather station can be mounted on a 50mm outside diameter vertical pipe or bolted directly to a building or other object. It is preferable to mount the station on 50mm outside diameter vertical pipe as this allows the station to be rotated to an optimal orientation . The station is factory calibrated for the wind vane end of the cross arm to point true North in the Northern Hemisphere and True South in the Southern Hemisphere. If the cross arm is mounted in any other orientation the wind vane will need to be re aligned. (See: Wind Vane realignment)
